The Baltic Sea Conservation Foundation – baltcf – was founded in 2014 with the aim of funding environmental- and nature protection across the Baltic Sea region. The foundation is led and managed by the Managing Director and the Board of Directors. The Board of Trustees controls and supports the management of the foundation. A Project Advisory Committee of independent Baltic Sea region experts counsels us in the selection of projects.

You are planning a project in the Baltic Sea region? What general conditions need to be respected? What are our principles and guidelines and what do we finance?

Our beneficiaries can be legal entities (e.g. associations and federations) and public bodies (e.g. municipalities) from the entire Baltic Sea region. The foundation particularly promotes international projects in the states bordering the Baltic Sea. For support to projects implemented only in Germany, you are advised to get in touch with the Naturschutzstiftung Deutsche Ostsee.

In order to ensure that the assessment of project proposals is transparent and in-line with the foundation’s goals, we have developed Funding Guidelines (soon published here) and provide templates for the application process. As we assess every project proposal that is submitted according to consistent criteria, we need detailed information about the project structure, background, objectives and framework conditions. Soon you can find all the necessary documents for your application in our application area. In order to receive guidance on the application process, we recommend getting in touch with our office prior to the submission of your proposal.

We are willing to support you in the course of the development and specification of your project proposal. To ensure that the foundation’s means are used effectively for nature conservation, we particularly support projects that are able to use synergies and to achieve a multiplier effect through cooperation and partnerships. We are open for cooperation with other donors and can provide co-funding for public or European projects.

We are at your disposal for further advice or for any additional information that you may require.
