The Baltic Sea Conservation Foundation (baltcf) – registered as International Baltic Sea Foundation for Nature Conservation – is based in Greifswald in Germany, in close proximity to the train station, on premises shared with the Naturschutzstiftung Deutsche Ostsee.

Peter Torkler, Managing Director

Since January 2015 Peter Torkler represents the foundation as managing director. He graduated as Diplom Geographer and joined the foundation after more than a decade of professional experience with European policies. With WWF Germany he worked during the last years on financing Europe’s protected area network Natura 2000 through the integration of EU public funds for biodiversity, and cooperated with the European Commission and relevant authorities and administrations across Europe.

Eva Loy, Project Assistant 

Eva Loy joined the foundation in November 2016. Having lived, studied and worked in Russia and in Denmark, Ms. Loy grew strong ties to the Baltic Sea Region. After obtaining her University degree, she began her professional career at the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU). Prior to supporting the Baltic Sea Conservation Foundation, she also worked in the management department of an organic food company in Berlin.  Apart from employment, Ms. Loy does a lot of freelance as well as volunteer work in the fields of east-west youth exchange and sustainable education.
